John Treybal, P.E.

Principal, Sellers Treybal Structural Engineers PC

John Treybal has over 16 years of structural engineering and project management experience. A native Vermonter, John received his BS in Civil Engineering from The University of Vermont and since that time has worked in the state on a broad range of projects. John’s responsibilities include all aspects of management, engineering design, and production.

John’s work encompasses residences, schools, universities, athletic facilities, industrial buildings, and churches. While at Engineering Ventures he was responsible for several prominent projects including the King Arthur Flour Camelot Expansion & Renovation in Norwich, the Stowe Ice Arena, Renovations at the University of Vermont Living & Learning Center, and the Waterbury State Office Complex Central Plant.

The design of innovative and sustainable timber structures has been a central interest throughout John’s career. He has extensive experience ranging from traditionally joined timber frames to modern steel connected glulam construction to passive structural insulated panel buildings. Projects managed at Engineering Ventures include the Saint Bruno Scenic Viewing Center on the summit of Equinox Mountain which earned a 2012 American Council of Engineering Companies Award for Excellence in Engineering, the World War I Airplane Hangar for the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, the Woodchuck Cidery Visitors Center, and the Hudson Passive Project – the first certified passive house in New York State and one of the highest performing homes in the world.
